Western Americana and Cosmic Folk come to Franklin!

This October, songwriter and poet Ben Larson returns to his childhood home with his duo “The Moondocks” for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Born and raised in Underhill and a graduate of MMU, Ben Larson headed to Montana at 17 and built a life as a carpenter, poet and traveling musician.

Armed with a mountain of stories and an eclectic album that doesn’t fit in any genre container, Ben and his interstellar percussionist Pfahl are bringing their poignant, impromptu rural Montana music back to the winding roads and leafy forests of Vermont. 

Powerful and evocative singers, Ben and Pfahl have shared the stage with The Wilder Blue, Yarn, Melissa Carper, Big Richard and more. Ben has performed everywhere from the Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering to the National Folk Festival to the TedX Stage and many more among hundreds of shows in tiny towns across Montana and beyond. 

As lifelong musicians, they have produced numerous albums in previous bands including The Backwoods Dreamers and The Grownass Men. The Moondocks is an evolution of Ben’s Western folk storytelling with new cosmic influences from Pfahl’s deep dive into the realm of the world’s oldest electric instrument, the theremin. 

The Moondocks are currently scheduled to be playing in Vermont on Friday, Oct 2nd at Two Heroes Brewing in South Hero, Saturday Oct 3rd at Dick Wright Pub in Franklin and Thursday Oct 8th at the Haybarn in Plainfield with more shows to be announced soon. 

This event is all ages, BYOB.
